The Campaign Gameplay Director for Infinity Ward‘s upcoming sequel confirmed that it will not have a Zombies Mode. Several days have gone by since the reveal trailer, and it has received an overwhelmingly positive response. The trailer has received around 415,000 likes, and 25 million views, but not a lot about the title was revealed. The trailer seemingly shows us cuts from the campaign, with a voiceover from the fan favourite character Captain Price. The Call of Duty Youtube channel states that “In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, players will be thrust into an immersive narrative spanning the entire game.” They continue, “Players can experience the ultimate online playground with classic multiplayer or squad-up and play cooperatively in a collection of elite operations, accessible to all skill levels.”
Infinity Ward had previously developed 7 other Call of Duty titles, including the first 3 Modern Warfare games, Infinite Warfare, and Ghosts. In which the latter two received negative feedback within the Call of Duty community. A common complaint about them both was that they felt too “futuristic” in comparison to other Call of Duty titles. But that won’t be the case for Modern Warfare.
An interview between The Campaign Gameplay Manager Jacob Minkoff, and Playstation Lifestyle occurred recently. They discussed the realism and progression of Modern Warfare in comparison to the Black Ops series from Treyarch. “We’re trying to create an authentic, realistic feeling world. We don’t have the flexibility to do something like put zombies in the game,” Jacob said. “That would compromise the feeling of playing in a world that feels realistic and authentic and relative to today’s conflicts and things we face.” Minkoff also commented that “We’re (Infinity Ward) not ready to talk about cooperative play yet, but what I will tell you is that the single-player storyline goes directly into the co-op storyline.”
