Gearbox Software studio head Randy Pitchford announced that the upcoming Borderlands 3 will receive cross-platform support, after the game’s launch.
Cross-platform play has been heavily rumoured for a while, which Gearbox Software confirmed earlier this week via Twitter. Judging by the tweet, it seems that it will be up to the platforms (Xbox, Sony, Steam) to determine whether they want to support this feature.
Borderlands 3 is one of numerous games joining this new push for cross-play. Others include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Phantasy Star Online 2 (the western release), and Gears 5. Cross-platform pay has been making the rounds recently. Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, even stated the importance of the feature for the gaming industry going forward.
Borderlands 3 is the latest installment in the long-running Borderlands franchise. Releasing on September 2013, it promises gazillions of guns, colourful characters, and the best story to grace the series.
