Bluepoint Games PS5 title to set benchmark for next gen

Bluepoint Games, the acclaimed remaster team responsible for the Shadow of the Colossus remake and remasters for Uncharted and God of War, are touting their currently unannounced PS5 to set the benchmark for the next-generation console.

The studio has previously called the upcoming game their biggest project yet, and a number of rumors about what their next project might have come forward over the previous months, a point the studio has acknowledged with some cryptic, humorous tweets.

So calm this spooky night. A symphony of rumors – not one, but two – return from shadow. A resistance to dart home as black monsters escape twisted hills to wander lands and syphon souls. Filter your candy collections, soft from solid, and be eco-friendly. Have a metal Halloween.

Currently, the most prevalent rumor has been a next-gen remake of Demon’s Souls, the PS3 action RPG released in 2009 by From Software. The game was the predecessor to the Dark Souls series and the first in the Soulsborne line of games.

Demon’s Souls has gone on to be one of the most influential games of the entire generation, with the term “soulslike” being used to describe games with similar difficulty and structure.

The game is currently the only entry, not on modern consoles, and its online features were discontinued in early 2018, cutting off all the game’s online features.

Other rumors range from a possible Metal Gear Solid remake to Twisted Metal.

The comments come from the company’s updated website as Bluepoint is currently hiring new talent to add to its next-gen development team. The unannounced game is currently one of only a few confirmed PS5 titles alongside the recently announced Godfall.

The PS5 is expected to launch winter 2020.
