Massively Multiplayer Online game Atlas has just received a ‘Mega Update,’ which includes new environments, items, and challenges. The developers have seemingly redesigned the world itself, adding “40% more islands/landmass & new world map layout.” Also a redesign of the claim system for colonies, “with more progress-protecting and time-enforced PvP rules. These limits have been implemented to ensure the game is more oriented towards single players or smaller groups. Previous modes now known as Empires and PvE will be a modified version of colonies.”
New environments include a deep ocean trench for further sea exploration and an eastern tundra. Other effects include snow and an aurora borealis, as well as submarines, new quests, curses, and even a human catapult feature, have now been added to Atlas .Player shops and a war system are finally in place, so you’re now able to declare war on your enemies while selling off the plunder!
Please see the developer patch notes to fully grasp all of the new changes because there is a lot to sift through. On top of new additions and redesigns, a couple of gameplay balance tweaks have been added to Atlas as well. These include ship levelling across the entirety of your vessel.
Currently, Atlas still sits in Early Access, with a “mostly negative” overall and recent review score. The game is 50% off its retail price on Steam, reduced from $29.99 down to $14.99 until April 15th. While Culture of Gaming cannot officially comment on the current state of the game, it’s best to take a look for yourself.
